Week four is over, which is nuts! I promised myself that this weekend wouldn’t include staying up until 4am… But when there is wine and good company, it’s hard to say no! Alexis (from San Francisco) cooked a few of us dinner last night (croque madame!) in our cottage. You can’t beat farm eggs, homemade sour dough, home made cheese and good bacon, you really can’t. We are so spoiled here to be eating such great food. We retired into the sitting room, a few more people joined us, and we played “Things,” a game I had never played, but am so glad I brought. My voice hurts from laughing so hard, if that makes any sense at all. So much fun!
Yesterday was a good day, made a pretty wicked chocolate cake, and cooked sprouts – random morning, and quite simple, but a good end to the week. I had a lull in the morning so Pam brought me a chicken to joint, and I am 110% confident that if that is one of the techniques I have for the exam in two weeks, I will be okay! Demo was good, Darina was on fire as always, lots of history on the various Irish pies. We were introduced to more Irish shellfish as well, and I can’t wait for Monday, I will be making two shellfish plates.
Just finished cleaning up from last night, and headed to the bins with eleven empty bottles – I won’t tell you how many people were here! Going to get ready for the day, and head in for Saturday Pizzas with Alexis and Theresa, before a guest demo with a lady called Mary Jo.
I say it every day, I am so lucky to be here, and to be surrounded by like minded people who all have such a great sense of humour… Especially when we are all from different countries and backgrounds… Last night was a United Nations night (as Mary puts it), Germany, Japan, Canada, The US, England, and Ireland.
Right – must get ready for the day or I will miss pizza!
“For God’s sake, I’ll appear to you if you serve this with the well known brand.” – Darina on what type of mayonnaise to serve with shellfish plates
