How beautiful Ireland is?

I know it may sound like I am repeating myself, but the countryside here is stunning, and everyday I notice something new. Today was no exception, I saw more of the countryside, the green, the hills, the water, it is all so beautiful.

What a day – I will write a proper blog tomorrow because it’s nearly midnight and I have a busy morning in the kitchen. We were up early and on the bus headed for West Cork. The first stop was at Mahon Point Farmers Market, which Darina feels is one of the best markets in Ireland. We then travelled for about two hours to Durrus Farmhouse Cheese, and then it was onto Good Things Café and Cookery School (also in Durrus), which is run by Carmel Somers a “posh hippie.” Lastly we stopped in Bandon where past student Ruth Healy has Urrus Artisan Foorstore.

A few of us were dropped off at Ballymaloe House for the Riedel comparative wine tasting… I was tired after our big outing, and considered not going, but am so, so pleased that I went. So informative, very interesting, and I came home with a Riedel glass made specially for drinking Coca-Cola… The evening was followed by a lovely meal at Ballymaloe House with guests that were here for the wine tasting, and Colm and Peter (or wine teachers!).

I am now going to turn in for the night, and will write a proper blog tomorrow evening explaining the great day I had today!
