The weekends fly by… Nicole, Hannah and I headed into Midelton yesterday afternoon to have lunch and do a little shopping. We sadly missed the market due to bad timing, our own faults though, so no complaining! When we got back we took a quick tour around the farm to see if the piglets were out running around, but they were snoozing. Hopefully over the next few weeks they come out of their little house a bit more and we are all able to see them. We had a mellow night before heading to The Blackbird to celebrate Rebecca’s 21st with a few pints of Guinness. I made chicken noodle soup and sour dough for us, and of course we had some wine. We headed back just before 2am, so I thankfully had a good nights sleep. There was a beach party for Valentine’s, the main section of the pub had sand all over the floor, Baywatch was playing on the TVs, and Mossey (the owner) was playing some great music, we danced and sang all night.

I was up early this morning to head into Cork to get a few things, have a coffee and a wander. Mary brought me back down to the school on her way back in. After a quick cup of coffee, Hannah, Mary and I headed out to Ardmore – about thirty minutes from the school. We had such a lovely day, we walked along the beach, pottered in and out of a few stores with neat local art, and then headed up to The Cliff House Hotel for an early dinner – which was probably the best meal I’ve had out since I’ve been here. Sadly the weather was a bit crummy so the view was a bit squashed by rain and low cloud, but even so it was stunning. I’ve been here for six weeks, but the views still surprise me everyday, even the same ones that I’ve seen nearly everyday. Ireland is truly a beautiful country, and to think I’ve only seen such a little bit of it. I can’t wait to head up to Galway in a few weeks time.

Enjoying a mellow evening listening to the rain with a cup of tea, going to do my order of work for the morning and head to bed early. We’ve had so little rain and wind, which apparently is very unusual for this time of year, tonight it is pouring! Can’t believe tomorrow is the beginning of Week Seven… Looking forward to another week in the kitchen though!
